WARM-ONE WORD PROMPT ( Jolly Crafty Christmas 2024) DCM

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

We hope you enjoyed using the first One Word Prompt last week - thank you so much for joining in and sharing your creativity!

The Jolly Crafty Christmas Time 2024 challenges will have either a picture or a word prompt each week, all the way to the lead upto Christmas.

This weeks ONE WORD PROMPT of the week is:
WARM
What do you think of when you read that word?
Remember, anything goes -  make Tags, Bags, Cards, Décor, Boxes...
whatever  takes your fancy that fits the theme.
Christmas themed or not - it's up to you!

For this weeks challenge I am using a stamp by Art Inspirations designed by Mr Barghest called Snow Monster. Its a super fun image of a snowman with his warm scarf and hat playing in the snow, which I thought was perfect for this challenge.
Forcast is snow for the coming weeks so dress up warm if your out and about.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge. Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog.

BIRD- One Word Prompt( Jolly Crafty Christmas 2024) DCM

 Hello everyone!

Its been a while since I've posted anything on the blog. Life's been a little crazy lately, I feel like I'm always chasing time. I'm not a big fan of the winter months as it gets dark too quickly but I love the build up to the seasonal festivities and the holidays. I'm looking forward to nice cozy evenings spent with family.

Its time to welcome you to join in with our annual seasonal craft-along!

Jolly Crafty Christmas Time 2024

For the challenges leading up to Christmas we'll give you either a picture or a word prompt each week and then the rest is up to you!
Anything Goes - you're free to make anything that takes your fancy that fits the theme.
Tags, Bags, Cards, Décor, Boxes... whatever you want to make.
Christmas themed or not - it's up to you

Now it's time for the first ONE WORD PROMPT and the word of the week is

BIRD

My card features this cute little owl from Hobby Art. I knew this would be perfect for this weeks prompt. I have used christmas papers from an old First Edition paper pad that I've had in my stash for years. The colours are very traditional and went well with the colours I used to colour the stamped image. The word stamp is by Uniko stamps, look them up they have some amazing stamps too.

Furry Pet Friends - Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

This weeks Daring Cardmakers Challenge is hosted by me and its all about our beloved pets. I remember having pets at my grandparents house, they had a cat and a parrot. My parents too had a cat for many years until one day it never came home. My dad was quite fond of this cat and decided he didn't want to keep another pet after Mano went missing. My kids have been pushing for pets since they were little but haven't had the green light from me yet. Perhaps one day I'll tell you all about a pet we decided to keep!

In the meantime lets look at this weeks challenge.

FURRY PET FRIENDS.

So this week I would love to see a card with your favourite pet if you have one or if would like to have one in the future.

Show us your two or four legged pets. Do you have more than one type of pet? Let’s celebrate our furry friends by adding photos to your cards too.

So for my card this week I decided to choose cats to be the main feature. I created a background using distress inks. The stamps used are by Art Inspirations called Cats Rule by Mr Barghest. Just love this stamp its cute and mischievous at the same time. All of the elements of the stamps are separate and give you more versatility in creating different scenes for your cards. I used the fish stamp to create a border which looks pretty cool don't you think?

Leafy Lushness

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

 This week we have a brand new challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers blog and its set by DT member Nat. The challenge is called;

LEAFY LUSHNESS

Make leaves the prominent feature of your card - in all their lushness!

There are so many possibilities - whether rich autumnal shades, something a little festive, or creatively using leaf dies or stamps to create a seasonal wreath.

For my card I used Funky Fossil stamps and decided to keep it clean and simple. I stamped the leaf image onto a piece of vellum and then mounted it onto some black and white pieces of card. I then added some embroidery foss and tied a small bow before adhereing it to the main card.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge. Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog.Thank you so much for stopping by and I wish you all a very happy weekend. Check out all the inspiration from the DT over on the Daring Cardmakers blog;

On or At the ball.- Daring cardmakers challenge.

 Hello and happy Friday!

Welcome back to my blog for another Daring Cardmakers Challenge. This weeks challenge is hosted by Kathy and it's called:

ON OR AT THE BALL
Kathy say, " You don't have to make a football themed card!
Believe it or not, there are actually other ball games you might feature, or you could add a beach ball, or throwing a ball for a doggy friend OR how about a different kind of ball altogether?
Meat balls, gumballs, high ball glass, disco ball - you could even create a fabulous ball gown, or a 'Strictly' style ballroom extravaganza!

This weeks challenge has been quiet fun. For my card I have used a decoupage kit from my stash. I can't remember who its by as its so old only that the collection was called Smirk I think. Anyway I did enjoy putting this golfer together he looks so happy having a great time playing golf, perfect card for a retirement.

Lucky Numbers- Daring Cardmakers Challenge

 Hello and happy Friday!

Welcome back to my blog for another Daring Cardmakers Challenge. I’m hosting this weeks challenge and it’s all about numbers.

LUCKY NUMBERS

This weeks challenge is nice simple! Just create a card with one or more numbers on it! Maybe for a special occasion like a birthday or an anniversary.
A Little 'Un about to start school, or perhaps a 'Well Done' for someone who's just passed their maths exam!

August is a busy month filled with lots of birthdays and anniversaries. Although there are lots of cards available in stores for different ages groups but I never seem to find cards with odd numbers. So here I am creating a card for someone who turns 17 next week shhhh I can’t tell you just yet.
I created my card using some Heffy Doodle products I just recently bought. The background was created using a chevron stencil and distress oxides. Loved how that turned out with all the bright colours. I used  the birthday number dies to create two balloons withn the number 17. To finish it off I stamped the word 'today' and added some sparkle to the numbers.

HAPPY AND BRIGHT- Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

I haven't blogged for some time over the last couple of months. As some of you may know, I lost my beloved father in April. Its been a very difficult time coming to terms with his loss. Some days have been more difficult than others. I am trying to take each day as it comes and still trying to make sense of it all. My dad would always bring me the brightest coloured flowers on my birthday. This year I will be reminded of that and of all the happiness he brought into our lives. May his star shine brightly as I dedicate this theme in his name. I would also like to dedicate this weeks happy and bright theme, for all of you out there who maybe going through some difficult time right now. So be strong now, because things will get better. It might be stormy now, but it can't rain forever.

This challenge is also a nudge to our British summer, two days of sunshine and we're back to the dull and gloomy days of rain.

This weeks challenge is called:

HAPPY AND BRIGHT

For my card I have chosen some pretty bright coloured papers from Simple Stories called Good Vibes. Once I had decided which papers I wanted to use I matted and layered them onto card. I added some more papers with geometric patterens then added my circle cut out with a setiment from one of Funky Fossil design stamps.

Happy Easter

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

This week its my turn to host this weeks challenge. As its Easter weekend I thought it would be great to have a Easter themed challenge. So I would love to see anything celebrating the Easter Season: Easter eggs, bunnies, chicks, daffodils and tulips.

My card this week is created using some Easter themed papers I had in my stash. So as I was creating my first card I really wanted to create some different ones too. Here's some I really enjoyed putting together as it was quick and didn't require lots of thinking.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge. Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog.

Let's Have Cake! Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Hello and welcome to my blog!

This week I'm hosting the Daring Cardmakers Challenge! It's called:

LET'S HAVE CAKE!

Who doesn't like a slice of cake now and again? I would love to see your favourite cake or any type of cake on your cards this week. Cup cakes, birthday cakes, wedding cakes, chocolate cake, carrot cake or any other cake you like.

This card has been really fun to create, its from an old decoupage kit from Dovecraft. This card was super quick to put together perfect for when you need to create one at the last minute. I chose the vanilla and chocolate muffins and decoupaged them which gives a lovely 3D effect. Add a sentiment and there you have it a perfect birthday card ready for my friends birthday.

By the way I love carrot cake!!

February Elemental Inspirational Challenge-

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

Its the first Friday of the month which means we have an Elemental Inspirational challenge. I'm your host this week and I've chosen a very pretty pink mouldboard. I'm not a fan of pink really but this looked so dreamy and fitted well with it being  valentine month too. So all you have to do is pick three elements to create your card remember colours are counted as one element, however choosing the colour pink is optional.

For my card I chose colours, hearts, flowers and things with wings.
I used First Edition Perfect Moments papers which fit perfectly with the colour theme and other elements. The butterfly has been created using the Fiskars butterfly punch. I added a sentiment using Sizzix Thinlet dies

I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge. Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog.

White On White- Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

I'm back with another new challenge! This weeks challenge is called;

That's All White Then!

Just go as white as you dare on your cards this week and use just a little colour if you really have to! We are excited to see what you come up with!

I really enjoyed creating this card until I had to photograph it. That was not fun with it being a dull day and trying to get the best light to take a picture took forever. I'm still not happy with results maybe I'll have to come back to this a some point and retake the photo. Anyway here's a little run down of how I put this card together. Firstly I embossed a piece of card using a dotted embossing folder. Then I adhered that to my card base. I die cut a frame, a floral element and a sentiment which was then all arranged on to the card and glued down. There you have it an all white card!!

Hello and happy Friday!

Welcome back to my blog! This week we have a brand new challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers blog. This weeks challenge is set by DT member Shabneez and its called;

FLORAL FRENZY

We all have lots of flower themed craft supplies and Shabneez would love to see lots of florals on your creations this week.

I have created my card using papers by Stamperia called House of Roses. This paper pad has been in my stash for some time and its one of those I couldn't get myself to cut into. So I thought how can I share its beauty if I don't create with it so here I am with this beautiful card with the most gorgeous roses, don't you agree?

Just Peachy-Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

 This week we have a brand new challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers blog and its set by DT member Nat. The challenge is called;

JUST PEACHY

Nat says, "A new year means a new Pantone colour of the year, and 2024 is the year of Peach Fuzz! So to celebrate this new focus colour, I want to see you use peach tones on your card in some way.

I have used some patterned papers for the base of my card and then added a strip of corrugated card in the centre. I punched some hearts using the Fiskars heart punch in two sizes. The hearts were then arranged onto the corrugated strip and for the middle one I used foam pads to give it a raised look. Finally I added a sentiment to the centre from Tim Holtz ideology stickers.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge. Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog.

January Elemental Inspiration Challenge 2024

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a well deserved Christmas and New Years break. It was much needed my end and crafting was definitely on hold. I have neglected by blog since October and I put it down to the time change when the clocks go back around that time of year. I feel like I'm always playing catch up. So, in many ways by the time we are in the new year I'm still thinking about Christmas. I know this sounds bizarre but I've noticed this was the same last year and the year before. This year I’m hoping to be kinder to myself and be more mindful.

Today I am back with this year’s first Daring Cardmakers Challenge which is an elemental one. To take part all you have to do is choose three elements to create your card. Remember colours count as one element. I chose colours, squares and leaves for my card.

I have created my card using collage papers and a stencil by Art Journal Love which is available from Funky Fossil Designs. I love these collage papers they are so bright and vibrant, perfect for quick cards. The paper I chose incorporates all the colours in the mood board, well nearly. I then added stitching details to two pieces of 2 inch square cards and mounted them onto the patterned paper. I created the leaves using the stencil and distress oxides. I then added details using a fine liner and a posca pen to give the leaves more definition. After fussing cutting the leaves I adhered them to the squares on my card. I couldn’t find a sentiment I liked so I decided to create one using my own handwriting.
Here is the mood board if you would like to take part.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge. Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog.
