One word prompt-BELIEVE-Daring Cardmakers Challenge.

 Hello and Happy Saturday!

Today I am back with another challenge as we continue our One Word Prompt over on the Daring Cardmakers blog. Its the last week before our Christmas break so this challenge will remain open for your entries until our return on 6th January 2023! This weeks word prompt is;

BELIEVE

Remember it doesn't have to be Christmas themed, and anything Goes when it comes to sharing your makes Tags, Bags, Cards, Décor, boxes - whatever you want to make
We're looking forward to seeing what you create!

Its great when you can find a stamp to match the theme. This card is inspired by the movie 'Polar Express' which I can't wait to watch with the family again this year.

The background was created using distress oxides and an Aallandcreate stencil. The swirly Christmas sentiment stamps are by Lili of the Valley which absolutely love, as they stamp so perfectly. I neatly edged all four sides using a blue metallic marker pen and mounted the card onto a card base. I added a few jingle bells threaded through a silver ribbon and attached that just above the sentiment. To finish it off I added some silver glitter dots to add sparkle.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge. Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog. Thank you so much for stopping by and I wish you all a very happy weekend. Check out all the inspiration from the DT over on the Daring Cardmakers blog;

December Elemental Inspirational Challenge- Daring Cardmakers

 Hello and welcome to December!

Wow where did the year go! I'm still in October so this is a bit of a shock to the system knowing we are at the end of the year already. Then I feel like this every year especially when the clocks go back. The days are so short and the constant rushing around trying to fit everything in makes me want to hibernate and emerge in spring, but then I'll miss all the seasonal festivities so that can't happen. Deep breath and relax is what I need to remind myself of and take one day at a time and enjoy the everyday simple things in life.

 So are you all ready for December? Have you got all your Christmassy things done? Have you created all your Christmas cards? If you haven't started creating your cards yet or thought about putting up the Christmas decorations come and have a browse through the Daring Cardmakers blog. Here you'll find lots of inspiration and ideas to create your own works of art.

This week we have an Elemental Inspirational Challenge where you card create anything you like using three elements from our December mood board. Remember colours count as one element.

For my project this week I decided to create a Christmas Candle Centrepiece. I chose colours, foliage and a candle. I created my candle by folding pages of an old book and then adding some hessian ribbon around it and decorated the front with some berries, leaves, mini pinecones and tartan ribbon. I made the base from thick cardboard and decorated it with things from my stash.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge. Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog. Thank you so much for stopping by and I wish you all a very happy weekend. Check out all the inspiration from the DT over on the Daring Cardmakers blog;

One word Prompt- SHINE - Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Hello and Happy Friday!

Today I am back with another challenge as we continue our One Word Prompt over on the Daring Cardmakers blog. This weeks word prompt is;

SHINE

Remember it doesn't have to be Christmas themed, and anything Goes when it comes to sharing your makes Tags, Bags, Cards, Décor, boxes - whatever you want to make
We're looking forward to seeing what you create!

This weeks prompt just makes me think of bright shiny stars and the Festive Luxe papers are perfect for this challenge. I love this one with the star bunting which I have used as a background. Bright glittery stars have been die cut and placed using foam pads. A thin strip of glitter card was placed along the bottom and the sentiment mounted on top. I found some Christmas stickers in my stash and this tree looked cute so it stands proudly on the glitter strip.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge. Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog. Thank you so much for stopping by and I wish you all a very happy weekend. Check out all the inspiration from the DT over on the Daring Cardmakers blog;

One word prompt -WHITE - Daring Cardmakers challenge

  Hello everyone!

Its been a while since I've posted anything on the blog. Life's been a little crazy lately, I feel like I'm always chasing time. I'm not a big fan of the winter months as it gets dark too quickly but I love the build up to the seasonal festivities.

We have a Christmas challenge countdown over at the Daring Cardmakers blog. This time we are changing things a little bit and having one word prompt challenges as well as the elemental inspiration challenge coming at the beginning of December. This week's word prompt is;

  WHITE

How will you use the word white on your creations this week?  Remember it doesn't have to be for Christmas and could be other projects not just cards.

White makes me think of snow and snowflakes. So for my card I have embossed the background using a white piece of card and a snowflake embossing folder. I then die cut a snowflake from silver glitter card using one of Tim Holtz dies and glued it in place. Then I mounted that onto a silver mirri card before adhering it to my base card. To finish it off I added a sentiment and some sparkly gems to the snowflakes.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge. Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog. Thank you so much for stopping by and I wish you all a very happy weekend. Check out all the inspiration from the DT over on the Daring Cardmakers blog;

Super Scary Season- Daring Cardmakers Challenge

 Hello and happy Friday!

Welcome back to my blog for another Daring Cardmakers challenge. This week I’m challenging you to join in for the:

Super Scary Season Challenge

Its not long until Halloween so I would love to see some scary ghosts, witches, monsters, bats, spiders or any other ghoulish characters on your cards this week. You can use cute Halloween characters if you like and the usual Halloween colours purple, orange and green OR try something different.

This week I’ve gone all out on digital stamp images (Jack O'Lanterns and Hello Pumpkin) by Vera Lane Studio by Janet Klein. I layered the pumpkins on top of each other in a word document and then coloured them in using Ohuhu markers. The cute girl character was also coloured using alcohol markers and then fussy cut. I had created a number of backgrounds using distress oxides whilst preparing for last weeks challenge and this one went perfectly with all the shades of orange.

 I arranged all the layers onto a black card base and then mounted the girl image using foam pads. The sentiment is also part of the set which I cut out and doodled some lines around to create a frame.

This has been a really fun card to create I loved colouring in all the fun pumpkins.

Big On Backgrounds - Daring Cardmakers Challenge

 Hello and happy Friday!

Daring Cardmakers are back again with another new challenge. This weeks challenge is set by DT member Nat and she wants us to go;

Big on Backgrounds

She would like to see you create your own background design/print/pattern for your card.
Get creative with stencils, stamps (big and small), dies, and create a background that really stands out.

I love creating backgrounds and I always have some pre-prepared backgrounds as it saves a lot of time. I usually create a fair few backgrounds while I have all of my inks and sprays out. It certainly pays off when you need to create something quickly. This background was also created recently and seems to fit perfectly with the
challenge. I have used distress oxides to create this background and an Aall and Create stencil #126 Lotza Stars. The die cut star and sentiment are by My Favorite Things.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge. Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog. Thank you so much for stopping by and I wish you all a very happy weekend. Check out all the inspiration from the DT over on the Daring Cardmakers blog;

October Elemental Inspirational challenge- Daring Cardmakers

  Hello and welcome back to my blog!

Its the first Friday of the month, which means its the October Elemental Inspirational Challenge. This months mood board is set by DT member Shabneez and it's full of inspirational elements that have a fresh autumnal feel. To join in all you need to do is to choose 3 elements for your card. Remember colours count as one element.

For my card I chose brick wall, mushrooms, colours and textures. I die cut a couple of brick wall strips from a Sizzix border die. I then used distress oxides to colour the wall using a few different brick colours. For the main image I have used printables from Fox and Found Studio (Vintage Toadstools, Foliage and Leaves and Vintage ATC's). For all the other elements I have recycled a clothes tag, a small piece of vinyl and a bronze piece of fabric. With the left over piece of vinyl I cut out some tiny hearts and added them to the bottom of the card.

I haven't added a sentiment yet as I couldn't decide who I was going to send it to. Then maybe it just doesn't need one what do you think?

Here is a close up of the finished card. I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge. Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog.

Be Happy- Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Hello and happy Saturday!

Welcome back to my blog I hope you've had a good week. This weeks challenge for the Daring Cardmakers blog has been set by Shabneez and she says;

 Be Happy

Happiness is so important to us all and I'd like to see the word 'HAPPY' on your card.  It could be for a birthday, anniversary or anything that makes you happy!

So for my card I decided I wanted it to be just a happy card, to make someone smile and feel happy when they received it. I bought a stamp set from a craft fair I recently visited with a friend, which I thought worked perfectly for this challenge.

I stamped the flower head a couple of times onto watercolour card and added the sentiment. The flowers were coloured using zig water colour pens and a water brush. Once dry I added some sparkle using stickles star dust. To finish off the card I drew some stitched lines to the outer edge of the card and then added some splatters using a black and white posca pen.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge. Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog. Thank you so much for stopping by and I wish you all a very happy weekend. Check out all the inspiration from the DT over on the Daring Cardmakers blog;

Comfort and Hope- Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Hello and welcome to my blog!

This past week has been very sad and emotional for the whole nation. As we say farewell to our beloved Queen Elizabeth II we cannot help but feel this immense sense of loss. Words fall short of what we are feeling right now but it is times like these that words of comfort and hope are needed.

COMFORT AND HOPE

So for this weeks challenge we would like to see cards with words of comfort and hope for those who have lost a loved one or are experiencing a difficult time, by showing your kindness and support.

For my card I chose some patterned papers by Anna Marie Designs and the sticker words are by Studio Light. The die cut is by Sizzix .

September Elemental Inspirational Challenge

   Hello and welcome back to my blog!

Its the first Friday of the month, which means its the September Elemental Inspirational challenge. This months mood board is set by DT member Miri and she says,

"If all the leaves, the rain puddle and blanket is too autumnal for you … why not go for textures, floral/leaf elements or be inspired by the “work/writing” element?! We can’t wait to see what you will make out of it!"

The mood board it's full of inspirational elements that has a cosy autumnal feel. To join in all you need to do is to choose 3 elements for your card. Remember colours count as one element.

For my card I chose some soft colours, a teacup, leaves and textured backgrounds. I decided to go a little vintage and selected some printables from the Fox and Found Studio. I started off by fussy cutting all the elements and then inked all the edges using distress oxides (vintage photo and tea dye). The fun part after all the fussy cutting and inking is when you arrange all your elements and see how well they all work together. I usually take a couple of photos whilst arranging my pieces so I can decide which layout I like the best before sticking anything down.

Here is the list of the Fox and Found Studio pintable's I have used;

1.Antique French Ledger.

2.Edwardian Women Old Postcards.

3.Vintage Teacups.

4.Foilage and Leaves Victorian.

5.Mini Vintage Printables.

Cakes and Candles - Daring Cardmakers Challenge

 Hello welcome back to my blog!

Well we're half way through August and we've already had 9 birthdays! Yes it’s birthday month in my family and there isn’t a week in August where it isn’t someone’s birthday. So as there's lots of cards to create, which sometimes I wish I had done a month earlier as it gets so busy with the kids being off school and finding the time to craft. I thought why not challenge you all to create some birthday cards for loved ones so you have them ready in advance. This weeks challenge is called;

Cakes and Candles

 I would love to see your take on birthday cards with cakes or candles or both.

I created my card using an old die set by First Edition called 'Build your own Cupcakes' which is perfect for this challenge. I started off by stamping Happy Birthday all over my base card in three different coloured dye inks that coordinated with the cupcakes I had die cut. The stamp is from one of Janet Klein's sets by Aallandcreate called 'RiseUp'. I then assembled the cupcakes and arranged them onto the card base using foam tape. Fairly easy right? Now to create a few more.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge. Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog.

Keep Your Cool -Daring Cardmakers Challenge

 Good Morning and Happy Friday!!

Welcome back to my blog! This weeks challenge is set by Kathy and its called;

KEEP YOUR COOL!

It's been pretty hot so far this Summer - even here in the UK!
So let's see your favourite ways to keep cool when the temperatures soar features on your cards this week. A dip in the sea, putting your feet in a bucket of water,
A snooze in a hammock in the shade. Sunhats and parasols, Ice cream and ice lollies. A slice of juicy water melon or a long cold drink...

I hope you are all enjoying the amazingly warm or should I say hot weather. I absolutely love the summer months, as long as there is a nice breeze to go with it, I think it works well for me.
So the question is how do you keep yourself cool in this heat? My favourite way is to just sit in the shade and enjoy some watermelon and keep hydrated and cool at the same time. So yes you've guessed it my card this week is shaped like a watermelon. This has been created by die-cutting three circles and folding them in half pretty simple really but effective. I used patterned cardstock for the green layers and a red embossed layer on top. To create the seeds I just hand cut some tear shapes from black card. To finish it off I have added a sentiment using a Tonic sentiment strip and there you have it a cool watermelon card.

 I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge. Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog.

August Elemental Inspirational Challenge

  Hello and welcome back to my blog!

Its the first Friday of the month, which means its the August Elemental Inspirational challenge. This months mood board is set by DT member Nat and it's full of inspirational elements that have a fresh summery feel. To join in all you need to do is to choose 3 elements for your card. Remember colours count as one element.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on the blog. I can’t believe it’s August already!! Time seems to be passing by ever so quickly at the moment. My days and weeks seem to be all rolled into one but I’m glad I found some time to break away from it all and have some time to create.

For my card I chose colours, flowers and circles. I was really drawn to the colours in this mood board they look so fresh, bright and have a lovely summery feel. I chose my papers some plain and patterned, although you can't actually see the polka dots on the yellow clearly in the picture. They were then matted and layered on to the main card base. I then die cut some circles and placed them on the card overlaying each other. I used the stems and floral elements from one of Tim Holts die sets called Wildflower Stems #1. They were die cut from white cardstock and coloured using Distress Oxides. After arranging them onto my card base I added some pearl gems onto the flower heads and a tied bow, finishing it off with a sentiment from Tim Holtz idea-ology metallic stickers.

Here is a close up of the finished card.

Flair Not Square- Daring Cardmakers

 Hello hello everyone!

I can't believe I've not blogged for over a month!!! It's been an extremely busy and difficult couple of weeks. I'm still stuck in April mentally and we're approaching June!! What happened to May and where did time go? Well let me tell you in brief that my youngest had a terrible eczema flair up on his face and its been so angry and sore. Its been a month of endless trips to the doctors and medication after medication. He's been going through a cycle of continued flare ups on his face. Its only just starting to clear up slowly so fingers crossed it heals.

This week its my turn to set the Daring Cardmakers Challenge and its called;

 'Flair Not Square'

I love square cards especially 6x6 sized ones but sometimes you need a card with a bit more flair (no pun intended) so it stands out. So this week I'd love to see cards other than a square card. So it could be a rectangle, circle, pop up or even a fancy fold card, the choices are endless.

So for my card this week I decided to create a diamond fold card using just one sheet of A4. I then used papers and toppers from the Butterfly Kisses collection by Trimcraft. Just love how this card turned out ready for my sisters birthday. I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge. Chocolate Heaven- Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Hello and happy Easter!

It's the Easter Bank Holiday weekend and we are celebrating all things chocolate over on the Daring Cardmakers blog. This weeks challenge is set by DT member Kathy and its called;

Chocolate Heaven

Kathy says "Indulge yourself a little this week!
I'd love to see all sorts of chocolatey treats - chocolate cakes, chocolate colours,  velvety drinking chocolate, a tempting box of chocolates....
Whatever you fancy!"

I decided to create a chocolate bar using some brown chocolate coloured card and added small embossed rectangles for the chocolate segments. I then used some silver metallic paper and polka dot paper for the wrapper and wrapped it around the bar and adhered it at the back. I then added a sentiment wrap to the front. To give it that real effect I tore one side to reveal the chocolate bar. I used my scallop punch to sneak a little "bite".

Here you can see the card pulled out with its surprise sentiment inside.

April Elemental Inspirational Challenge-DCM

   Hello and welcome back to my blog!

Its the first Friday of the month, which means its the April Elemental Inspiration challenge. This months mood board set by DT member Jenny and it's full of inspirational elements. To join in all your need to do is to choose 3 elements for your card. Remember colours count as one element.

This has been a fun challenge using 3 elements from the moodboard. I chose bunnies rabbits, florals, colours and a clipboard. For my card I have used papers and elements from the So Loved collection by Scrapmir. I die cut the circles out of co-ordinating plain cardstock and arranged the main image in the centre and floral elementals around the edges. I added a sentiment tag, to which I attached a tiny bulldog clip, and that gave it a clipboard effect.

Here is a close up of the finished card. I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge.Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog or our Facebook page Daring Cardmakers Create and Share.

The Early Bird Catches the Worm- Daring Cardmakers Challenge.

 Hello and welcome back to my blog!

This week, we've had some bright sunny weather. Not too warm but nice enough to get that lovely spring feeling. The sun is out early so its no longer dark on our way to work. This has certainly brought a cheerful mood to our challenges too as we move from last weeks spring theme to this weeks;

The early bird catches the Worm.

This weeks challenge is set by DT member Mirri and she would like you to create a card with whatever comes to mind when you hear this saying, such as birds of any kind, sun rays/sunshine/sunset or even a worm!

My card has been created using printables from Fox and Found Studio by Katy Leitch. I started off by using some left over red polka dot paper, which I think went really well in the background as it brings out the red in the birds face. After adhering that to my base card I tore the edges of one of the receipts from the Old Receipts printable and inked the edges using Vintage Photo Distress ink. I then cut out one of the bird images from the Antique Bird Illustrations printable. I distressed the sides of the image using a distress tool and also inked the edges using the same distress ink. I then fussy cut one of the flowers from the Big Blooms sheet and one of the tape strips from the Document Tape Strips sheet to create some flags. To finish it off I added a sentiment from the Everyday Card Greetings and used some stickles for the flowers.

Here is a close up of the finished card. I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge.Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog or our Facebook page Daring Cardmakers Create and Share.

Hello Spring!

     Hello and Happy Friday!

Welcome back to my blog for another Daring Cardmakers Challenge. This weeks challenge has been set by DT member Shabneez and it's called:

HELLO SPRING!

She says, "As it's almost the first official day of Spring here in the UK and what better way than to celebrate than with a challenge!  I’d love to see anything related to the season be it lambs, rabbits, daffodils, tulips etc.

I personally can't wait for Spring to arrive. I just love the brighter days and warmer weather. For my card I have used the So loved collection by Scrapmir. After choosing some of the pretty background papers I layered them onto my base card. I selected the bunnies from the ephemera pack and a framed sentiment. I die cut two scalloped borders and layered them one on top of each other and adhered to the top part of the card.

For Ukraine -Daring Cardmakers Challenge

 Hello and welcome back to my blog!

This week we're asking you to join us and show your support for the people of Ukraine by filling the crafting world with

Sunflowers, Blue, Yellow and HOPE.

The world is changing so quickly around us natural disasters, pandemics and wars. It makes me sad that we have not learnt anything from history but letting it repeat itself over and over again. The biggest thing I guess is not giving up hope. Hope is the one thing that can help us get through the darkest of times.

 Hope is being able to see
that there is light
despite all of the darkness.
- Desmond Tutu

I decided to create a stepper card and covered it with sunflower patterned paper I created myself. I wanted it to be just a subtle grey and not overpowering in black. I have used a digital sunflower by Power Poppy by Marcella Hawley (she has very kindly put up a few free digital sunflower images if you would like to create your own card in support of Ukraine). The sunflower has been coloured using Ohuhu markers and then attached to the back step of the card. I added a sentiment on the front two steps of the card and then finished it off with some stickles on the centre of the sunflower.

Word Play - Daring Cardmakers Challenge

 Hello and happy Friday!

Welcome back to another Daring Cardmakers Challenge. This weeks challenge is called:

                                                        Word Play

It's hosted by Joanne and she says, " As we wave farewell to February, let’s use the month for inspiration in a different way. Make a FEB card! Use something beginning with each of those letters in your creation.
So it might be a foiled elephant juggling a ball, a blue fairy with an embossed background, a baby card with flags and embroidery thread…
what can you come up with that’s FEB?
Don’t forget to tell us which items you’ve used in case we don’t spot them!

I used flowers, an elephant, buttons and bunting for my card. After die cutting various layers and elements I began layering each one on to my card. I used Oh So Sweet papers by Trimcraft which has a pastel palette. I loved how this turned out with subtle colours.

(Flowers, Elephant, Buttons, Bunting (and Baby card!)

In the Nick of Time! -Daring Cardmakers Challenge

 Hello and welcome back to my blog!

It's my turn to host this weeks challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers blog. I have decided to do a time themed challenge and it's called:

In the Nick of Time!

Time is of the essence! Use clocks or anything to represent time on your card, including watches, hourglasses, sundials or pocket watches. I'm sure you can think of other time related things and of course you could also use clock works and cogs.

For my card I used some patterned paper from a collection I had in my stash. Lots of die cutting and fussing cutting of clocks, cogs and ephemera. I then went about arranging all the pieces onto my card and took a photograph when I was happy with my design layout. This made it easier to glue all the pieces into place and add any extras like the cogs and the pocket watch charm. Once everything was in place I added a sentiment and some sparkle.
