Vellum-Daring Cardmakers Challemge

 Good Morning and Happy Friday!

Welcome back to another new challenge this week its DT member Dawn's turn to set a new challenge. Dawn says, " There is one product that I am not a big fan of and find it very difficult to use and that is

VELLUM

So we would like you to use a little or a lot of vellum on your cards this week. We can't wait to see what lovely creations you create and  maybe inspire Dawn to use it more often.

So for my card I decided to use Vellum as an overlay. I created an inky background using distress oxides and Aallcreate lots of dots stencil. I kept laying colours until I was happy with the result. I then stamped one of the larger images from one of Aallandcreate stamp sets by Tracy Evans #449, onto vellum. I used WoW embossing powders ( Sparkling Snow) and covered the whole image and then heat embossed it. Then I added some coloured details on the back of the vellum using coloured pencils and alcohol markers. Once it was dry I wrapped the vellum around the front of my background piece of card and secured it at the back, with strong double sided tape. I then layered that on to a blue piece of card so it was only visible on the sides. I used some sparkly ribbon and wrapped it to one side of the card then I attached the whole piece to my main card. I stamped the butterfly sentiment onto some off cut piece from the same background. I then shaped it into a tag shape using my scissors and hole punch and then attached that to the ribbon on the card using a smaller piece.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge. Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog or our Facebook page Daring Cardmakers Create and Share.

Celebrating Books-Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

Today I'm back with another Daring Cardmakers Challenge and this weeks host is DT Svenja. As its International Book (and copyright) day she wants us to celebrate books and their heroes. So, make a book related card: celebrate books themselves, getting lost in a good book or some classic book heroes - and heroines. Or maybe you even want to create a book!

CELEBRATING BOOKS

I decided to create a card with a stack of books all tied up ready to be given to a book lover. I love books and have always loved reading. Its amazing how some books can take you to different places and you can even make friends with the all the super heroes. So for my books I cut 3/4 inch stripes of patterned paper and used my circle punch to round the edge of one side and a half circle punched out at the other end. Then I stacked the books and adhered them to a small piece of card so I could easily handle them all together and tie some string around the whole stack. I tied a small string bow and added a tiny tag. I then printed out a book quote by Dr Seuss and attached that to my card.

Black and White Plus 1

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

Today I'm back with another new challenge and this week its been set by design team member Mirri. The challenge is to use black, white and one other colour of your choice. It can be any colour and you can use it only a little or a lot or even different shades of it. Just as you like.

For my card I have used a black and white stripped card in the background. I used some seedless preserve oxide ink and sprinkled some pixie powders onto it and then sprayed some water onto it. I picked up the colour with some water colour card. Once dry I used a die cut from Miss P loves geometrics and stencilled through with the same colour. This added interest to the background, I then doodled along the outer edges with a fine liner pen. I added the frame from the same set in white and added some stems from the botanicals set in black. My sentiment is from the Words Sticker collection by Leonie Pujol. I added some splatters with a posca pen and there you have it a black and white card with one colour.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge. Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog or our Facebook page Daring Cardmakers Create and Share.

Let's hear it for the Bees! - Daring Cardmakers Challenge.

 Good morning and happy Friday!

Hope you are all well and keeping safe. Well what's happened to the weather? Just when we thought here comes spring with all that warm weather, its gone downhill with freezing cold temperatures and SNOW! Surely not so good for the bees as they come out in the spring months. This weeks challenge also about Bees and is set by DT member Shabneez,  its called:

Let's Hear It For The Bees!

So we would like to celebrate bees this week and would love to see anything related to them on your cards.  You could use beehives, honeycomb shapes, honey coloured ink etc - extra points for using a combination of elements!

For my card today I have used Aallandcreate stamps sets by Tracy Evans (Honey Bee #330 and Little Critters #436). I started off by using oxides for my background. I wanted it to look bright and cheerful, Spiced Marmalade and Wild Honey were perfect for this. Once dry I stamped the honeycomb stamp in spiced marmalade. I then die cut an aperture out of another piece of white card and die cut some honeycomb out of gold card and adhered them in opposite corners of the aperture piece. I stamped and coloured the beehive and bee using alcohol markers and then fussy cut them. I also stamped the beehive onto the background piece so you could see all the fine leafy vines swirled around the beehive. I then adhered the coloured beehive in place carefully aligning with the stamped image on the background piece.

Then I placed the aperture frame on top using some foam tape. I adhered some black card on to my main card and then placed the aperture piece on top placing the bee on to the white frame. I cut another middle piece of the bee and just glued the centre body and shaped the wings. I stamped the protect bees again on to some left over off cuts of inked yellow card and mounted them on to black card to make them stand out. To finish it off I added some Tim Holtz label tape and some sparkle to the bees wings.

April Elemental Inspirational Challenge.

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

Its the first Friday of the month, which means its the April Elemental Inspiration challenge. This months mood board is set by DT member Jenny and its full of inspirational elements. To join in all your need to do is to choose 3 elements for your card. Remember colours count as one element.

For my card I chose hearts, colours, text background and the word love. I decided to use some papers from My Minds Eye which I've had in my stash for some years now. They seemed to work quiet well with the colour scheme. I used Eileen Hulls Hearts journaling card dies and layered them up so that the smaller hearts created a shadow in black.  I added some heats from the waste and cut out two two hearts from the papers and added my sentiment love on top. To finish it off I added black organza ribbon.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge. Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog or our Facebook page Daring Cardmakers Create and Share.
