Baubles, Bows and Boxes - Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Hello and Happy Friday!

Welcome back to my blog for another new challenge with the Daring Cardmakers. This weeks challenge is called;

                                 Baubles, Bows and Boxes.

Three things beginning with B - you can choose one of them or all three to feature
when you make your project this week! Maybe make a bauble to put in a box and decorate with a bow!
Remember it doesn't have to be Christmas themed, and it can be a card or anything else you're inspired to get crafty and make. We'll leave this challenge open until we return on 7th January 2022 after our Christmas break.

This week I decided to take a break from card making and created a gift box using my We R Memory Keepers 123 punch board. These boxes are really quick and fun to create. I tied the box with ribbon and added some mini baubles. I created a bow using some silver ribbon and tied it in with the baubles.

 So this was the last of the challenges for this year while we take a short break over the festive season. I would like to thank you all for taking part in the challenges and for taking the time to comment on my social media pages and on the blog.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge.Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog or our Facebook page Daring Cardmakers Create and Share. Thank you so much for stopping by and I wish you all a very happy weekend. Trim The Tree- Daring Cardmakers Challenge

 Hello and welcome back to my blog!

So we are in the second week of December and its time to get into the festive spirit and start putting up your christmas trees and decorations. This weeks Daring Cardmakers challenge is called ;

                                       Trim the Tree!

Have you put your Christmas Tree up yet?  Do you have a coordinated theme or just throw every decoration you own on there?
Well this week we'd love to see some trees on your projects, please!
They can be any kind of tree you like, a Christmas Tree,  a Wonderful Winter Landscape or maybe some shady palm trees if you're in warmer climes!
Make it just one tree or a whole forest.

This week I have created a card with an inky background using distress oxides.
I just love blues,greens and purples together. I stamped Woodware Leggy Christmas Trees and added some shading to make them pop. I added the sentiments using some of the words from the same stamp set. To finish it off I added some doodles around the edges and stickles to give the trees some sparkle before mounting it onto the main card base.

Demember Elemental Inspirational Challenge

 Hello and Happy Friday!

Wow where did the year go its December already!!! In some ways I'm glad this year is nearly over as it wasn't the best year for us. We lost a few loved ones this year along with other bad news health wise within the family. Its been a bit of a roller coaster ride of emotions but I suppose thats life. So I'm really looking frorward to the New Year and hope and pray its a better one for all of us.

Its the first Friday of the month which means its the December Elemental Inspiration Challenge, over on the Daring Cardmakers blog.

Our December mood board is all about the excitement of getting ready for Christmas.  The house needs decorating and the gifts need wrapping so there's holly and stars, wrapping paper and twine, baubles and candy canes... and loads more goodies to choose from.
Just pick any 3 elements or more from from the picture below. Remember the colour palette counts as one element.

For my card I chose the Nutcracker, twine, stars, words and hessian.
I used patterned music paper for the background. Then I added some hessian ribbon which was tied in place with some twine. The stars were die cut from gold glitter and jade green card. I added a tag with the Nutcracker and finished it off using a sentiment from Winter Words by Fox and Found Studio.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge. Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog or our Facebook page Daring Cardmakers Create and Share.

Hello and Happy Friday!

Well the cold spell has certainly arrived and my thermals are on. I spent most of yesterday glued to the radiator and still felt so cold. The festive season is fast approaching and I do need to get a move on and finish creating my Christmas cards. I'm glad the Daring Cardmakers have had lots of christmas themed challenges which has given us a head start with our crafty christmas makes. So we are now in week 4 of our Christmas challenges. This weeks challenge is called;

Show us Your Stockings!

Probably Christmas Stockings - but maybe cute little socks for a new baby's feet or possibly even fishnets and garters! Remember it doesn't have to be Christmas themed, and it can be a card or anything else you're inspired to get crafty and make.

I created my card using papers from Artic Christmas by Paper Addicts and Cracker and Stocking Dies by First Edition. I loved creating these cute stockings using different patterened papers and die cutting contrasting colours for the toe and heal. Once I had assembled a couple of the stockings I decided to add some papers to my base card to create the background. A sentiment was added to the base card and I doodled some stitch lines around the card. I tied some twine across the the front of the card and used some small pegs to hang my stockings. To finish it off I added some gems.
So heres another stocking card I made the collection is slowly building.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge. Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog or our Facebook page Daring Cardmakers Create and Share.

Silver, Aqua and a Dash -Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

Today I'm back with another Daring Cardmakers challenge and this weeks challenge is called;

Silver, Aqua & a Dash

We've a colour theme this time!
Just use Silver and Aqua/turquoise shades and add a pop of any
other colour you fancy. Remember it doesn't have to be Christmas themed, and it can be a card or anything else you're inspired to get crafty and make.

I love aqua colours they are great for lots of winter themed cards. I have created a card using First Edition papers called Arctic Winter. They worked perfectly for this challenge. I added green as my third colour and used silver glitter card.  I added a strip of snowglobes a sentiment and gems to finish it off.

Jolly Holly-days - Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Hello and Happy Friday!

Welcome back to another Daring Cardmakers challenge.Our theme for the challenge this week is;

Jolly Holly-days!

We'd simply like to see some holly or other Winter greenery on your
projects this time.We'd love you to share anything you make so, not just cards but boxes, bags, tags, labels and decorations.  Whatever you make, we want to see!
 And of course, remember, your makes don't even have to be Christmassy!

This week I decided to create a gift bag, as it would definately come in handy over the festive season. For my project I use a pre-made kraft bag which usually comes plain and you can decorate it however you like. I die cut two holly wreaths and layered them on top of each other to make the wreath look fuller. I used patterened papers to add a border on the top and bottom of the bag. I adhered the wreath to the centre and added red gems to the holly leaves. Then to finish it off I added a tartan bow and created a small tag matching the bag, which I tied using some twine and bells. I loved the finished result.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge.

November Elemental Inspirational Challenge- Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

Its the first Friday of the month which means its the November Elemental Inspirational Challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers blog. This months moodboard is full of Christmas Inspiration all you have to do is pick three elements and create a card. Remember colours count as one element.

I have chosen colours, words and pinecones. When I saw this moodboard I knew exactly what I wanted to create using one of my well loved Waltzing Mouse stamp sets called Festive Foilage by Claire Brennan. I stamped the pinecone stamp with Versa Claire ink pads and then fussy cut them. I also stamped some of the individual cones and fir branches. I cut two strips of green and red cardstock and die cut a frame out of grey cardstock, using one of the Tattered Lace dies. I then stamped and embossed my sentiment onto the grey frame. Now the frame was ready to have the foilage assembled onto it. I used foam pads to add height to the individual pinecones which I added onto the main stamped image. To finish it off I added stickles for sparkle and some pearl gems.

Halloween Inspired- Daring Cardmakers Challenge

 Hello and welcome back to my blog!

Its Friday which means we have a new challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers blog. This week we would love to see

Halloween Inspired

cards. So you could make a traditional kind of Halloween card, but it doesn't have to be ghosts and witches, instead, you could choose to use  Halloween colours (black, purple and orange), or Autumn things like pumpkins and apples, or creatures connected to the season such black cats and cute owls.

I decided to go with Halloween colours, bats, pumpkins and spider webs. After choosing some of my base colours I matted the green onto some dark grey and then adhered that to my main card. I then punched some hexagon shapes from my remaining coloured and patterned papers. I die cut the pumpkin, bats snd spider web out of black and orange cardstock. I then arranged them onto my main card and then added a die cut word BOO out of silver glitter card. To finish it off I added some silver flags and some gems.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge.

Wear It Pink- Daring Cardmakers Challenge

 Hello and Happy Friday!

Welcome back to my blog, today I'm back with another new challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers blog. October is breast cancer awareness month and today it's;

WEAR IT PINK DAY

This weeks challenge is set by DT member Joanne and she says;

"Let’s mark the day by making a card featuring somebody or something wearing pink - it might be a woman in a pink outfit, a teddy with a pink bow, a child in a pink bobble hat, a dog with a pink collar… you get the idea! Baby pink, flamingo, raspberry, neon pink, any shade will do."

For my card I have used stamps and stencils from Tracey Heys new release. I traced the circle stencil on to my base card and used a craft knife to cut out the shapes. I then used a fine liner pen to create some faux stitching around all the cut out shapes. Patterened paper was then adhered to the inside of the base card so that it was seen through the cut out circle at the front. I coloured one of the character images from the 'Swinging By' stamp set and fussy cut both the image and the leaf vine. I wanted to create a card with the character swinging freely within the centre circle. So the leaf vine is attached to the main image and then adhered on the inside of the cut out circle, and there you have it, a free swinging little elephant on a swing. I loved creating this card it was just so fun.

Candy Corn & Peppermint Fondant- Daring Cardmakers Challenge

 Good morning and welcome back to my blog!

Today I'm back with another Daring Cardmakers Challenge and this weeks challenge is called;

Candy Corn & Peppermint Fondant

This challenge is set by DT member Svenja and she says:
"In the US candy corn season is going pretty strong these days whereas here in Germany Peppermint Fondant is a traditional (all-year-round) sweet that usually comes in blocks of white and strong pink."
To celebrate these favourites, make a card using either a combination of white, yellow & orange or white & strong pink.
Extra (virtual) brownie points if it's sweets-themed.

 I created pink and white stripes using some strips of pink card and glued them onto my card base. I then stamped and embossed some flowers from the one of Tracey Hey's new stamp sets called 'Hey Beautiful'. After water colouring the flowers I die cut the image and layered it onto another piece of card. The pretty little leaves are also from the same set which I coloured and fussy cut then added them to the flowers. To finish it off I added some pearl gems to the flower centres and a sentiment also from the same set, which I stamped and embossed. Finally I added some fine splatters to the focal image. I really enjoyed creating this card it was such a fun challenge.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge. Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog or our Facebook page Daring Cardmakers Create and Share.

BON VOYAGE - Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

I'm so glad we finally got some sunshine even though the kids holidays are at an end. It means I can plan a few day trips and enjoy our time together as a family. There's a new challenge starting over on the Daring Cardmakers blog which I'm hosting and I have based it on travel. There's all sorts of restrictions and quarantines for holiday makers and I wondered if people still looked forward to travelling abroad!! So I've named the challenge:

BON VOYAGE

Holidays seem to have a whole new meaning and experience now.
Is there a favourite place you'd like to travel to or revisit?
This week's challenge is all about travel so I would love to see maps, directions, tickets, planes, trains or automobiles.
Anything travel related you could even use your best holiday destinati
on.

 For my card I have used First Edition Bon Voyage papers. I found these were perfect for this challenge. I mounted one of the papers onto my base card and one to create a striped border. I cut a large circle from the paper with the world map using a circle die which would give it a globe effect. I then fussy cut some of the tickets from another sheet from the Bon Voyage papers. I added some wooden embellishments and a die cut plane. Then finished it off with a Bon Voyage sentiment.
I'll be posting a few more ideas on my Facebook and Instagram pages this week for more inspiration. you can check the out here:

10 Green Bottles -Daring Cardmakers Challenge

  Hello and happy Friday!

Welcome back to my blog for another Daring Cardmakers Challenge. This weeks host is DT member Ruth and she would like to see anything to do with a bottle - or maybe even 10 green bottles. Wine bottles, Beer bottles, Perfume bottles, Small ones, big ones, full ones, empty ones.....

I think the Aallandcreate stamp set by Tracy Evans is perfect for this challenge. It's been a while since I used this set so I am glad it's getting the attention. I created a background using distress oxides in various shades of green. Once dry I stamped the stamp with bottles and used stencils to create interest in the background. So to make the bottles and the flowers stand out I created two backgrounds one in blue and the other in various shades of orange, coral and yellow. I restamped the the bottles and the flowers separately and then fussy cut them. I used a ball tool to shape the bottles so they had a curved shape and used foam tape to adhere them to the main stamped image. Next I added some more detail onto the flower heads using colouring pencils. I shaped the flower heads and added some black pearl gems to the centre before gluing them in place. I added a sentiment from one of Tracy's new releases called 'Bring on the Sentiments'. I then added some black thread before mounting it onto the front of the bottles. To finish it off I added tiny bits of details with some washi tape.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this weeks challenge. Show us some of your creations and don't forget to share on the Daring Cardmakers blog or our Facebook page Daring Cardmakers Create and Share.

Very Superstitious- Daring Cardmakers challenge.

 Good morning and happy Friday!

Welcome back for another new challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers blog. Its Friday the 13th and this week we are looking at different types of superstitions. How superstitious are you? Is Friday 13th unlucky in your book? Today's challenge is to be inspired by a superstition! Here are a few examples to get you thinking:

Throw a pinch of spilled salt over your left shoulder to blind the devil - you might feature an image of a little devil or a salt pot. Or use actual salt in your project (e.g. make a salted watercolour background).

Knock on wood for luck - use woodgrain pattern or something made of actual wood on your project.

Breaking a mirror is seven years’ bad luck - use mirror card, a mirror image or a shattered pattern.

Many superstitions are specific to a culture so tell us about the superstition you’ve used in case it’s one we don’t know!

So for my card I have chosen a few different superstitions. How many have you spotted?  There's the black cat, the number 13, the colour green and salt. So I started off by creating a salted background using distress oxides and coarse salt. Once I had picked up the distress colours onto the card using the smooshing technique I added salt onto the wet background and left it to dry naturally. Once dry I rubbed off all the salt this gave the background a mottled effect as it absorbed all the access water. I added some details using some stencils by Aallandcreate like the number 13. I coloured one of the cats from the Felines stamp set by Janet Klein and then fussy cut it. Washi tape was added at the bottom of the die cut circle and then mounted onto black before adhereing it to the main card. I decided to stamp the fish bones around the circle and then added the cat and sentiment to the card.
